UFRJazz
The UFRJazz Ensemble, Brazilian Jazz Big Band, was created from the implementation of the course of studies in saxophone by teacher Jose Rua, master of the School of Music from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). The UFRJazz Ensemble is highlighted by the quality of his work dedicated to the popular Brazilian instrumental music, the jazz and contemporary music of the concert.
They components are students of the School of Music and invited musicians. His repertoire covers from original works of composers of the twentieth century, as Stravinsky and Bernstein, to classics of Brazilian popular music, with different arrangements specially written for the band. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

José Rua
Born in Oporto (Portugal). He studied clarinet at the School of Music of UFRJ where he graduated and has submitted as soloist of the orchestra of School of Music. In 1982 did graduate studies at Boston University (USA) in the class of the master Kalmen Opperman. Returned to Brazil after intensive activities abroad as chamber musician, soloist and teacher, performing in several concerts in America.
Was for many years clarinetist of the Orchestra of Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro. He teaches saxophone and clarinet in School of Music of UFRJ. Head of Wind Instruments, is director of the UFRJazz ensemble. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Victor Biglione
With over than 30 years of career, born in Argentina and legally a Brazilian citizen, is one of the most respected instrumentalists within Brazil and internationally and considered the foreigner musician with a greater contribution in recordings and concerts in Brazilian music. Since 1982 he was released 28 CD'S, composed sound tracks for movies and theater and played in a live concerts on several countries, solo or with some of great names of international show business like David Sanborn, Manhattan Transfer and Andy Summers with whom he released two CDS of acoustic guitar duets Strings of Desire in the US by RCA Victor in 1998 and Splendid Brazil by Indie Records in 2005. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Wagner Tiso
Pianist, composer, conductor, arranger and music director Wagner Tiso is one of the most respected Brazilian musicians on his country and abroad, participating frequently the biggest jazz festivals in Europe such as Montreux, Berlin, Montmartre and Nice. His presentations are on the agenda of the major concert halls in Greece, Italy, France, Austria and Germany and his songs are some of the most performed in Brazilian music market. Until the present time, Wagner Tiso has recorded 26 albums, composed several soundtracks for film, theater and television and wins several awards. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
